Gunite is a mixture of sand, cement and water, this combination is the applied with extreme pressure through a nozzle. To give strength and durability, gunite is applied over rebar/steel. Once this material has been sprayed onto the rebar/steel the crew will cut to shape the cement and create steps, benches, ledges, barstools, etc. Although gunite is a durable material it is pneumatically used because it is more flexible than concrete, although it meets a higher PSI standard.
